Guiding Hospitality. Transforming Destinations.
Hospitality Attachments and Internships
REI Hospitality places hospitality students into attachments and internships at the hotels, resorts and restaurants we work with. We have been doing it informally for years. This is where it happens now.
How a Placement Works
-
Tell Us
Your course, your dates and where you would like to be. Five minutes, and your CV.
-
We Match
Against what the properties we advise are actually short of that season.
-
We Introduce
We put you forward with a word from us, and tell you who you are meeting.
-
You Go
Into a working property, on the shift pattern the department really runs.
-
We Check In
With you and with them, so a placement that is not working gets fixed.
Institutions We Work With
We are formalising agreements with hospitality colleges and universities across Kenya, and we will name each one here once it is signed. In the meantime this does not change anything for a student: you do not have to be at a partner institution to ask us for a placement.
Why It Is Worth Asking Us
We Place You Where We Already Work
We are not sending your CV to a list of addresses. These are properties we advise, recruit for and visit — so when we put you forward, somebody there knows who we are.
It Costs You Nothing
REI Hospitality never charges candidates, and a student is a candidate. Being put forward and being placed are free at every stage. If anyone asks you for money in our name, it is not us.
An Attachment Should Teach You the Job
We brief the property on what your course requires, so the weeks count for something more than a signature on a logbook at the end of them.
It Does Not End at the Placement
A student who did well is a person we already know. Plenty of the people on our job board started as somebody's attaché.
Ask for a Placement
Tell us where you are studying and when you are free. We will come back to you.
For Colleges and Universities
If you run a hospitality course and place students on attachment, we would like to talk. What we bring is the properties: the hotels, resorts and restaurants we advise across the Coast and inland, and the working relationship that makes a phone call enough. What we ask for is your calendar and your requirements, early enough to plan around.
Questions Students Ask
-
Does REI Hospitality charge students for an attachment or internship?
No. REI Hospitality never charges candidates, and that includes students. Finding you an attachment, putting you forward and placing you are free at every stage. If anyone asks you for money in our name, it is not us — please tell us.
-
Do I have to be at a partner institution to apply?
No. The institutions listed here are the ones REI Hospitality works with directly, which usually makes the paperwork quicker. Students from any hospitality course in Kenya are welcome to send us their details — type your institution's name into the form.
-
What kind of properties do students get placed in?
Hotels, resorts, lodges and restaurants across the Kenyan Coast and inland — the same properties REI Hospitality advises and recruits for. Where you go depends on your course, the dates your institution has set, and what each property needs that season.
-
How far in advance should a student apply?
As early as you can, and at least a month before your attachment period starts. Properties plan their seasonal staffing weeks ahead, and a request that arrives the week before term ends is competing for places that are already taken.
-
Can an institution partner with REI Hospitality?
Yes. REI Hospitality works with colleges and universities to place their hospitality students, and to bring what properties are actually asking for back into the classroom. Get in touch and we will arrange a conversation with your head of department.
