About the Property
The Orchard 4° South is a three-star resort in the Shimba Hills National Reserve, in one of Kenya's coastal rainforest reserves. It is a small property built for short getaways, couples who want a view of the hills, and families exploring Kwale away from the beach.
Where it is, is what it offers. The reserve neighbours the Sheldrick Falls, and Ukunda airport is a little over an hour's drive. Diani Beach is about an hour away, which makes the resort a workable base for guests who want both the coast and the forest without staying on the sand.
There are two room types, both with mountain views. Comfort suites are 40 square metres with a king bed; cottages are 35 square metres with a queen. Both sleep two and have contemporary furnishings, a private bathroom, an entertainment system and WiFi.
Continental breakfast is included. The grounds hold a swimming pool, a hot tub, a children's pool, a water park, a terrace and gardens, with a restaurant on site, laundry, concierge, free parking and a 24-hour front desk. In-room WiFi runs at 250 Mbps and above, which is not a given this far into a reserve.
